Gaz geçirgen sert lenslerin tercih edilmesi için kullanımının gerektiği durumlar dışında genellik ile yumuşak lensler kullanılmaktadır.

Sert Lensler; Gözün oksijen geçirmesine izin verdiğinden ötürü bu ismi alılar ve bu özelliklerinden dolayı artık kullanılmayan sert lenslere göre kornea epitel metabolizmasını daha az bozmaktadır. Korneanın şeklini almadıklarından dolayı yüksek astigmata ve keratokonus gibi olgunlarda özellikler tercih edilmektedir.

Yumuşak Lensler; Bir çok değişik stilleri vardır, Günlük kullanıcılarda 1 (bir) gün ömürlü lensler, Günlük kullanan 1 (bir) ay ömürlü lensler, Günlük kullanılabilinen 3 (üç) ay ömürlü lensler, Günlük kullanılabilinen 1 (bir) yıl ömürlü lensler, 1 hafta kullanılan 1 hafta ömürlü lensler, 1 ay kullanılan 1 ay ömürlü lensler, bazı göz hastalıklarının tedavisi için kullanılan tedavi edili lenslerdir. Bifocal lensler ve renkli lensler gibi mesela.

Kullanımı oldukça rahattır, Gözdeki kusurlarınızı tashihi için kullanılan lenslerin ise çoğu renksiz (şeffaf) dir. ve gözünüzde takıldığında görünümünüzü değiştirmezler. Taktığınız sürece gözünüzde olan kusurları giderir ve berrak bir görünüş sağlarlar. Korneanızın yüzeyini bozan hastalıklar sinir uçlarının dışarısında kalmasına bağlı olarak yoğun bir huzursuzluk vermektedir. Daha eski lazer uygulamalarında ise kornea nızın sinir uçları açıkta kalır ve yoğun ağrı duyarsınız. Bu gibi durumlarda ise tedaviniz için yumuşak kontakt lens kullanılmaktadır.

Bifocal lenslerde yakın, uzak için iki ayrı olarak gözlük kullanılması zorunda kalan kişiler için geliştirilmiştir.

Günümüzde ise popülerliğini taşıyan bir lens grubu da renkli lensler dir. JPMorgan raises holdings in China Railway ConstructionPublished: 18 Dec 2008 23:02:01 PSTDec. 19, 2008 (China Knowledge) - U.S.-based financial holding company JPMorgan Chase & Co has raised its shareholdings in China Railway Construction Corp (CRCC) to 8.22% from 7.81% on Dec. 11, according to the bourse operator Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEx). HKEx Wednesday said in a statement that JPMorgan Chase has acquired 8.447 million H-shares in CRCC for HK$101 million. The average price of the share transaction was HK$11.97 apiece. According to the report, it was the fourth time within two months that the U.S. company bough into CRCC, China's second largest state-owned construction firm. Apart from the latest one, JPMorgan had bought 2.453 million CRCC shares on Oct. 23, 19.1425 million on Nov. 11, and 3.919 million on Nov. 11, respectively, pushing its shareholdings to 7.81% from 4.99%. H-shares of CRCC rose 1.54% to close at HK$11.90 on Thursday. The issue price will be not less than RMB 18.61 per share, or 90% of the average price for the last twenty trading sessions. According to the statement, the shares to be issued will have a lock-up period of 12 months and the proceeds will be used to replenish working capital and pay back bank loans.The funds is expected to help the company lower its assets liabilities ratio, which stood at 72.60% at the end of March.
