All curricula should be regularly reviewed to include “hot-cake” topics such as climate change, technology and cyber behaviour, and globalisation. Global village awareness should be at the heart of every educator and learner.

I absolutley agree you must have a core curriculum: Reading, writing, math, science, government, history and geography are essential tools to prepare students for the basic functions of life. Without these, they have no basis on which to start. But education should be about preparing students how to thrive, not just survive in the real world. You start with the basic elements and adapt them to real world scenarios so they understand and are interested in finding out more.

Students should learn what the State has approved as required curriculum. They should, however, learn that every student learns in their own way.

Students should be taught not only what is required by the state or school, but they should also be taught the necessary skills that are needed to succeed in the outside world after they have completed their school and have a job.

The curriculum that should be learned by students should include subjects that are geared toward the standardize tests and subject matter such as math, science, etc. that are required by the state. As part of the curriculum, students should be taught strategies that will enable them to be productive in the outside. Curriculum should include learning strategies that will enable them to live in today’s society and workplace.

Learning should be designed using many different types of effective tools in the classroom. Students come into the classroom with different learning abilities. A teacher can design a lesson by drawing from students experiences and preexisting knowledge that students bring into the classroom. Learning should be designed by teaching subject matter and ask them questions by using metacognitive skills that will stimulate their thinking .
